Our Community
 

The Sunnyside School District encompasses an area of approximately 29 square miles that includes the communities of Sunnyside and Outlook, Washington and the surrounding farming community. It is an outstanding rural area, which offers the ideal blend of quality living and educational opportunity. This District is located in the heartland of the most diversified agricultural area in the Pacific Northwest in the Lower Yakima Valley (South Central Washington).

Sunnyside is equidistant, approximately 180 miles from Seattle, Spokane and Portland at the midpoint of the Interstate 82 corridor between Yakima (35 miles) and the Tri-Cities (45 miles)

The District has experienced constant growth over the past 10 years. The population of the District is estimated at 18,000 of a diverse ethnic and cultural background. Of the 5570 students enrolled in the District as of September 2003 approximately 82 % of the students are minority, with Hispanics the greater majority, and 18% are White.
